Shannon – Personal Trainer, Instructor, Nutritionist at Sister Bay Athletic Club

We are pleased to introduce you to our newest staff member Shannon who has brought her expertise to SBAC as a personal trainer, instructor and nutritionist. Shannon was born and raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She participated in track and cross country throughout High School and College. Shannon double majored in chemistry and molecular biology and graduated from UW – La Crosse with the plan to become a dentist. However, Shannon knew she was born to be a teacher; she felt in her heart it was her duty to teach people. A move to Milwaukee led her to enroll in the UW – Milwaukee master program in Curriculum and Instruction. After receiving a post-secondary degree teaching license, Menomonee Falls High School hired her to teach Science. She also was able to coach track and cross country. She enjoyed teaching, she loved making things that seemed difficult easy and fun to understand.

During this time in her life, she ended up joining a local gym and making friends with a personal trainer. Shannon wanted to learn how to lift properly for herself and her students she was coaching. Her trainer, who became a great friend, convinced Shannon she would be perfect for competing in a fitness competition. Using her knowledge in science she figured out her perfect nutrition to transform her body. She then found a love and passion for health and wellness, and she turned to personal training as a career. Her trainer and friend decided to move out of state and passed her clients over to Shannon. 10 years later, Shannon found herself owning 3 gyms in the greater Milwaukee area, personal training, and competing in fitness competitions full time. Shannon is always open to learning new things. After being introduced to kettlebells she fell in love and is now certified as a master trainer in kettlebells. In 2015, all her hard work paid off when she received her Pro Card – which means she won first place and is officially a professional figure competitor.

Five years ago, Shannon was ready for a slow down in life so she merged her businesses with an Athletic Training Center. She then turned to corporate wellness, to see a different side of the industry and help a different kind of clientele.

Why move to Door County many of you may be thinking, but Door County is where Shannon’s soul is happy. She feels alive, enjoying the great Door County lifestyle and sharing her knowledge with the great people in this community. Her parents are also retiring to Door County this year and she has a great friend who also moved here. Sharing what she has learned and continue to learn is what Shannon is most excited about. Bringing something new and different, with her kettlebell training is also something that excites her about joining this community and the Sister Bay Athletic Club. People are so open to being creative and collaborating freely, being able to speak and live your own truth and to live in an environment that wants to experience new things – are some top reasons Shannon is diving into this new lifestyle head first. “The sky is the limit here,” Shannon said.

A fun fact about Shannon is she has been playing the violin/fiddle since she was a young girl and she would love to find some people to play with! You can book personal training sessions with Shannon online or by inquiring at the Club. Shannon has also created some great videos on her favorite fitness routines that we’re sure you’re going to love!
